Suico’s hand aches; Vegas fight put off
By Rommel C. Manlosa

RANDY “Kumong Bato” Suico will be out of commission for at least three weeks with a hand injury he sustained in Las Vegas.

But Suico gets back into the ring, it will be one hell of a fight as he defends his OPBF belt against mandatory challenger Tiger Ari in a card tentatively scheduled in December in Cebu City.

Suico injured his left hand during his fourth-round demolition job of Mexican Juan Garcia at The Orleans Casino in Las Vegas last Sept. 13. This has forced his manager Joe Koizumi to cancel another Las Vegas fight on Oct. 4.

“Actually we had his hand checked by the doctors at a hospital in LA and had it x-rayed. The doctor said nothing was wrong. But we are forced to cancel the fight because he has no training and he can’t even do the punching bag,” said Suico’s trainer Juanito Ablaca.

Suico was among the guests in yesterday’s Scoop-Cebu weekly forum at Baseline Restaurant.

However, Suico, who is under a business management deal with top Japanese boxing promoter Akihiko Honda, is assured of another trip to the US next year.
