Mayor Gullas: Extra bonus for CH staff
By Ramon Jaluag

TALISAY City elective officials and regular employees will have a joyous Christmas season this year.

Last Friday, they were given P5,000 extra cash gift on top of their mandated yearend benefits.

Very soon, according to Mayor Eduardo Gullas, the distribution of the P1,000 per month rice allowance, which the Commission on Audit (COA) suspended, will be resumed.

An authorization from the Office of the President, which the City Council had sought for the disbursement of the additional benefit, is forthcoming, said Gullas, quoting a Malacañang insider.

The City Government started releasing the P1,000 monthly rice allowance in March this year, but COA 7 advised to have it discontinued last September unless the Office of the President authorized it.

Gullas said once the authority is issued, a total of P4,000 or the equivalent of four months, will be given to each employee.

Earlier, the regular employees who are members of the City of Talisay Employees’ Union (CTEU) received a signing bonus of P10,000 in March this year.

By next year, according to Gullas, a socialized housing program will be implemented to benefit workers who don’t own their house and lot.

The housing project will be constructed in Barangay Candulawan on the land donated to the City Government by San Lorenzo Development Corp.

It will be a joint undertaking between the National Housing Authority and the City Government.
