Ouano family offers Niño wharf, yacht
By Rose O. Verzosa

IT HAS been almost 20 years now since the family of businessman Ernesto Ouano Sr. offered the use of their private wharf and yacht for the annual Sto. Niño fluvial procession.

Ouano’s daughter Olga said the family considers this as their offering to the Sto. Niño.
She recalled that this tradition started since 1983 and until now, the Sto. Niño is still using the same yacht for the fluvial procession.

Olga said the yacht, which they named Señor Sto. Niño, is being exclusively used for this purpose. The rest of the year, the yacht is just docked at their wharf near their residence in Barangay Looc.

Yesterday, thousands of residents joined the short foot procession to bring the images of the Sto. Niño and Our Lady of Guadalupe from the National Shrine of St. Joseph to the Ouano private wharf for the fluvial procession.

The fluvial procession used to start at the Ouano private wharf near the Ouanos’ residence in Bara-ngay Looc but, Olga said, starting last year, they decided to use a bigger family-owned wharf, which is located just a few meters from Plaridel St. in Barangay Centro.

She said this is to accommodate more residents who want to join the short foot procession and watch the fluvial procession.
