IT WILL be an all-out heated hardcourt rivalry that will be played out starting today until Sunday when the NBL-CBL Sinulog Cup starts at the Cebu Coliseum this afternoon.

Invited guest during the opening rites are PSC Commissioner Butch Ramirez and Cebu City Vice Mayor Mike Rama to formally open the six-day tournament – that will kick off the first NBL season that will open on Feb. 22.

Organizers said the general admission is free to the public while the upper box seats are for only for P10, lower box for P30 and courtside seats for P50.

Some big names in Philippine basketball are going to display their wares anew led by former MBA double-double club member Dave Bautista, Tyrone Bautista and Carlo Espiritu who will play for Spring Cooking Oil.

UE will be led by James Yap and PBL slam-dunk king Niño Cañaleta; Taguig will have their reliable backcourt in tow – Kim Macanig, Rino Magsalin, Ronnie Cahanding, Dexter Racho and Bing Victoria.

Wang’s is keeping its line-up a secret following the signing of Jomar Tierra and Paeng Santos to the Sta. Lucia Realtors and William Moody to San Miguel Beer in the PBA.

While the Cebuano squads will try to give their Manila counterparts some hard time with defending champion M. Lhuillier hiring the services of Peter Naron, Braulio Lim, Warren Ybañez and Genesis Sasuman.

ML Kwarta Padala will have Jercules Tangkay, Mike Manigo, Melvin Taguines and Aldrich Reyes in its line-up.

The other lone Mindanao entry Shineway Sausage Ham of Ozamis City will be parading a-one talent like former Cebu Gem spitfire Edgar Echavez.

After this tournament, all this teams will go to Ozamis City for the NBL Ozamis City Mayor’s Cup competition.
