City Hall to spend P1.5M for experts, drama talents By Charmaine Y. Rodriguez
CEBU City Hall will spend over P1.5 million for the first half of this year for the salaries of 24 consultants and drama talents.
The City Council renewed last Wednesday the contracts of services of seven consultants of Mayor Tomas Osmeña, four others for the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) and the 12 drama talents for the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap).
Despite plans to close CCMC by June, the body, by motion of Councilor Christopher Alix, renewed the contract of a training officer and authorized the mayor to hire two new ones up to Dec. 31 this year.
Councilor Carmelita Piramide, during the discussion, asked if the appointment of the new training officers was approved by the management team supervising CCMC.
Alix assured that the team, headed by Dr. Rodolfo Bigornia, already knows.
For her part, Councilor Dana Sesante asked why, despite complaints that some of the X-ray machines are not functioning, there are four consultants in the organ imaging department, which does not even have an ultrasound machine,
Alix said the City-run hospital has two X-ray machines and there should be two consultants who will be receiving P8,343.50 monthly.
Councilor Arsenio Pacaña inquired from Alix if there are already “improvements” at CCMC after the management team took over last Jan. 1.
“Just give them time to do the changes. They can’t do it overnight,” Alix told the council.
Meanwhile, the body also approved the resolution appropriating P480,000 to cover the six-month talent fees of the drama talents for Cosap’s barangay anti-drug campaign.
Contracts of Rene Sanapo, consultant at the Geographic Information System, environment issues consultant Art Barrit, revenue generation programs consultant Pablo Tinga, urban poor consultant Gerry Marquez and senior citizens affairs consultant Manuel Concepcion were renewed.
Lawyer Raul Bitoon, the mayor’s consultant on League of Cities concerns, and Juan Hernandez, consultant on realty tax collection, will also serve City Hall for another year.
