200 to vie in Cebu dancesport tourney at W’front
By Christian Ben Rodriguez

MORE than 200 athletes are expected to converge in Cebu City for the Dance-sport Council of the Philippines-4th National Dance-sport Quarterly Ranking and Competition on March 16 at the Waterfront Hotel Grand Ballroom.

Dancesport world champions Ricardo Cocci of Italy and Joanna Wilkinson of Australia will grace the occasion and do a number.

The event, spearheaded by Cebu City Sports Commission chairman Jonathan Guardo and Councilor Jack Jakosalem, will have five foreign adjudicators.

CCSC has allocated P200,000 for the event while private sectors will be tapped to help defray expenses of the dancefest, which will have the biggest participation so far in dancesport competitions.

Guardo told Sun.Star they have formed committees for the event.

“I see that it will be smooth sailing from here until the event as we see a good response from the participants and the other groups and individuals concerned,” Guardo said.

He commended dance-sport director Edward Hayco and his wife Eleanor for keeping Team Cebu City up on its feet with good winning performances during national and international competitions last year.

“I see a challenge for TCC in this national ranking and this will be a true test as they confront more than 100 pairs,” Guardo said.
