Ybañez wants Cobras reunion in NBL
By Rommel C. Manlosa

ML Kwarta Padala head coach Eddie Ybañez wants his former players from the Southwestern University Cobras to join him in the National Basketball League, which will open on Feb. 22.

The Cash Forwarders will be representing Mandaue City in the tournament of eight teams, including five from Metro Manila. Each team will represent a key city in the country.

“As of now I have 10 players in the line-up. I need to get four more players to complete my line-up (for the NBL). For now I want my former players from Southwestern University Cobras to fill those slots,” Ybañez said at the Scoop-Cebu weekly forum at Baseline Restaurant yesterday.

Ybañez referred to musclemen Alano Caputolan and Cesar Romero, who are currently seeing
action with the Skygo Motorcycle Riders in the Cebu Basketball Federation.

Ybañez also wants to enlist Joselito Celiz, who is now playing for Casino Rubbing Alcohol, and Miller Dennison, who last saw action for Hapee Toothpaste.

“It’s very logical to get those players who already know my system, than have those who need to adjust with my style. The NBL is a good venue for players to shine nationally and I believe we could be more competitive with those players around me,” said Ybañez.

Aside from ML Kwarta Padala, M. Lhuillier Jewelers will be the other Cebuano team representing Cebu City in the tournament.
