Tuñacao upsets BP gold-medal winner By Rommel C. Manlosa
EDCEL Tuñacao of Looc Elementary School scored an upset win over the Bacolod City Batang Pinoy boxing gold medallist Jestoni Borres with a 2-1 victory in the 30-kilogram match during the Weekly Amateur Boxing at the ALA Gym Thursday evening.
Meanwhile, the cream of the crop of local amateur boxing will see action in the Revicon Boxing Challenge at the Gaisano Country Mall this afternoon.
Rey Caitom Cabancalan NHS, Alex John Banal of Talamban NHS, Robert Allanic of USJ-R, Rocky Fuentes of Talamban NHS, Nicolas Banal of USJ-R and Ruben Miñoza of Talamban NHS are going see action against separate opponents in the 12-bout card.
Joseph Von Miñoza of Talamban ES proved to be too classy for Ryan Ejecito of Lapu-Lapu City in the 32kg division following a 3-0 win.
Other winners include Danilo Codilal of Pit-os ES with a 2-1 win over Ralf Cuambot of Pit-os NHS (26kgs), Bryan Snow of Cabancalan ES scoring a 2-1 victory against Norberto Villanueva of Talamban ES (26kgs), Jomari Yuson of Maguikay ES scored a 3-0 win against Jasper Tampus of Lapu-Lapu City (28kgs).
Rodulfo Sumabong of Lapu-Lapu City whipped Rafael Arena of Maguikay ES with a 3-0 win (30kgs), Jojo Cañete scored 3-0 win against Christian Denapo of Cabancalan NHS (32kgs), Joseph Omaña of Talamban ES blanked Romart Sentellas of Flores Boxing Club, 3-0 (32kgs).
James Bacon of Maguikay ES pulled a 3-0 win against Dondie Pumar of Flores Boxing Club (34kgs), Kevin Sia Maguikay ES, 2-1 against Regie Pino of Lapu-Lapu City (38kgs) and Mike Labrador of Cabancalan NHS scored the lone stoppage, a Referee Stop Contest-Outclass win in 52 seconds of the third round over Leepog Satur of Banilad ES (44kgs).
