Trans-Asia refurbishes fleet

Trans-Asia Shipping Lines Inc. is raising the ante in the aspect of passenger service and comfort and cargo handling as it refurbishes its vessels.

The 3,991.8 GRT mv Asia China, which has been redeployed in the Cebu-Cagayan de Oro-Cebu route, has become the flagship of the fleet.

The company’s current fleet is composed of nine passenger-cargo and one cargo vessels. From Cebu, these service the ports of Cagayan de Oro, Iloilo, Maasin, Masbate, Ozamis, Sogod, Surigao, Tacloban, Tagbilaran and Zamboanga. The Tagbilaran-Cagayan de Oro route is also served.

Trans-Asia said each of the vessels serving these routes will have its turn in modernization and refurbishing according to the standards set by mv Asia China.

It added that mv Asia China is equipped with luxury liner navigational equipment and accommodations, and controllable pitch propellers which enable it to maneuver without the usual tugboat assistance.

It has four 2,600 hp Niigata 8MMG31EZ engines to achieve a maximum speed of 15 knots. Its restaurant offers a mix of continental and Filipino cuisine and features live entertainment.

MV Asia China has a Caribbean/tropical motif interiors. The cabins are built with their own rest rooms and onboard movies, while the presidential suites have vanity mirrors and dressers, wardrobe organizers, lounge chairs, balconies, matrimonial beds, 21-inch colored TVs, DVD players and movie libraries.

The vessel has 826 economy bunks, 270 tourist accommodations, seven cabins accommodating 26 passengers and nine presidential suites.
