2 men tagged in ‘gang rape’ of 17-year-old, face charges By Giovannie A. Nilles
TWO men were charged Tuesday for taking part in the gang rape of a 17-year-old girl in Barangay Pardo, Cebu City last year.
Efren Reyes and Ramil Ocampo were found to be among the five men who allegedly abused the teenager inside a nipa hut last March 21. With the help of the other three suspects, the two dragged her inside the hut and took turns abusing her.
Acting Cebu City Prosecutor Jose Pedrosa earlier charged the five suspects for rape but filed another case for the same offense against the two, as it was established that after leaving the girl for several hours, they returned and raped her again.
However, it was not pointed out in the complaint affidavit how the girl, who is from Balamban, Cebu, came to meet her abusers. It was not also revealed how she had known their names.
Of the five suspects, police only caught Reyes.
The girl alleged that the five suspects started abusing her at dawn. She was then left inside the hut. Although wanting to flee, she failed to do so as the hut was locked from the outside.
After about 12 hours, Reyes and Ocampo arrived and started abusing her again.
Some residents in the area reportedly heard her shouts for help. But it was only after the duo had left when members of the Barangay Pardo police arrived and rescued her.
A doctor of the Cebu City Medical Center certified that the girl was abused and that the presence of spermatozoa was found in her.
Acting Cebu City Prosecutor Jose Pedrosa recommended no bail for the two suspects.
