Banks accept property tax payments

THREE commercial banks have been commissioned by the Cebu City government to accept payment of realty property tax, according to the Public Information Office (PIO) of the Cebu City Hall.

Veterans Bank-Capitol branch along Osmeņa Blvd., Postal Bank along P. del Rosario St. and Equitable PCI Bank-Sto. Niņo branch at the corner of Lapu-Lapu St. and Osmeņa Blvd. have been designated real property tax payment centers.

City Hall personnel are assigned in the three banks to process the payment of the realty property taxes of Cebu City constituents, the PIO said in a statement sent to Sun.Star.

City Treasurer Ofelia Oliva urged the taxpayers to visit these banks to avoid the hassle of processing the payments at City Hall.

Rushing

Hundreds of city residents are now rushing to City Hall to settle their realty taxes to avoid being penalized for their failure to pay on time.

The city government will impose a penalty or additional payment on the actual tax due to real property owners who fail to pay their dues on or before March 31.

City Hall, however, gives a 10 percent discount to taxpayers who have no delinquent accounts, the statement said.
