Red Bull’s Cebu cagers vow great game v. TNT By Christian Ben Rodriguez
CEBUANO cagers who have made it big in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) promised local fans they will get their money’s worth when the PBA holds an out-of-town game at the Cebu City Coliseum at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
The Red Bull Thunders’ Jimwell Torion, Anton Beloria and Junthy Valenzuela, who attended the Sports Communicators Organization of the Philippines (Scoop) forum yesterday at Baseline Restaurant, said they will come out strong when Red Bull faces the Talk ‘N Text Phone Pals.
Argao-native Torion and Valenzuela, who is from Bogo, said they will do their very best to stop the strong inside game of Talk ‘N Text, which is headed by big man Asi Taulava.
Beloria, who is from Carcar, said a steady defensive stance and a concerted effort in the offensive end will definitely help them earn the win against the Phone Pals.
Defense
“A good defense to stop Asi will be vital in tomorrow’s game, and that is what we intend to show the crowd. We also have to give our 100 percent on the court,” Valenzuela said.
As much as they would like to put it behind them, Torion admitted they also feel some pressure as they play for the home crowd, which will expect so much from the three.
“We feel pressured because of what the crowd is expecting from us, but we have to show a good game so that the crowd will not be disappointed,” Valenzuela said.
Working hard
Beloria said they have been working very hard in training and practice sessions. He added that a key factor for them is Willie Miller’s performance on offense.
Meanwhile, Talk ‘N Text’s Taulava said their game plan for tomorrow’s game is to stop the guards of Red Bull, who are more than capable of hurting them.
“We have to stop them in order to control the ballgame and we have to intimidate them in every way we can to make them think twice of attacking the basket,” Taulava said.
