Zach’s claims Purcia’s scalp in overtime

ZACH’S Centrale continued log exciting wins, this time prevailing over the embattled Purcia Transport in a pulsating 91-84 overtime decision at the start of the second round of elimination in the Jaycees Basketball Association (JBA) First Conference at the Mandaue City Sports and Cultural Complex.

Meanwhile, Versacool took the solo leadership after scoring a 63-53 victory over Seaways, while Sulpicio Shipping Lines dropped to the second spot after succumbing to the prowess of Vital One, 66-75, in the other game.

After allowing Purcia to erect an 18-17 lead in the opening quarter, James Noel, Bobot Ramos and Boy Te combined for 23 points to give Zach’s a 42-37 lead at the bend.

Purcia came back to life in the third period and carried the momentum in the final canto resulting to a 76-all deadlock in the regulation period, with Ramos sinking four straight free throws that brought Zach into the overtime period.

Dixon Lin pulled two crucial steals, Benedect Chua nailed a triple and a twinner while Noel and Cesar Yu scored four points each in the extra period to pocket their second victory.

Noel topped Zach’s with 28 points, Ramos added 16 and Chua finished with 15. Joseph Jayme led all scorers with 30 and Edmund Odulio sank 24 for the losing Purcia Transport.

Zach’s (91) – Noel 28, Ramos 16, Chua 15, Yu 12, Te 8, Dixon 6, Dalocanog 6. Purcia (84) – Jayme 30, Odulio 24, Purcia 11, Chua 9, Puno 6, So 4.
