After the gloom of Good Friday comes the glory of Easter Sunday! Happy Easter, dear readers!

It was celebration time at the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres Medical Specialty Center at the Perpetual Succour Hospital (PSH) complex when Ricardo J. Cardinal Vidal presided over a Eucharistic celebration on inauguration day. Concelebrants were Fr. Ramon Ma. Luza Bautista, S.J. (novice master of the Sacred Heart Novitiate) and Fr. Benedicto John Sarchez (chaplain of PSH). Doing the honors at the ceremonial ribbon cutting was Sister Mary Magdalen Torres SPC, provincial superior of the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres in Antipolo city. The medical center is a multi-story edifice right behind the new wing housing the Heart Center.

Red, white and blue were the colors of the night when Cathay Pacific Airways (CX) honored its top travel and cargo agents for the year 2002. Venue was the Arctic Ballroom of Waterfront Cebu City Hotel where the red-white-and-blue-stars-over-you theme was dominant.

The affair started with an American-style buffet dinner followed by a game show hosted by Sing-Alis star Randy Santiago. What do you know?... Singing talents came to the fore with Marget Villarica of Destination Specialists and Marlon Pastrana of Cebu Fortune Travel getting the plum prize - a trip to Hong Kong for each.

The highlight of the party was the Grammy-style awards ceremony. Stars of the night were Cathay’s top producers and the dynamic duo of CX country manager Adrian Harley and CX manager-Cebu Lawrence Fong.

Collecting their unique Cathay Crystal Globe (a deviation from the usual plaque) plus a roundtrip Business class ticket each to any CX destination were Grand Holiday’s Margaret Ang (number one travel agent) and David Tieng of Geologistics Phils. (number one cargo agent).

The other awardees for cargo were Oriental Air Transport represented by Lolit Yu; Kuehne & Nagel (Malou Caballas); Yusen Air (Lydia Agustin); and Bax Global Phil. (Ramon Tamondong).

Cathay’s top 10 travel agents for the year 2002 are: Grand Holidays, Destination Specialists, Cebu Fortune Travel, Travelways International, Uni Orient Travel, Leisure Travel, Pan Pacific Travel, Royal Prince Travel, Adam’s Express Travel and Blue Horizon Travel.
