SaveMore to open at Elizabeth Mall
By Arvy E. Lopez

ELIZABETH Mall, Cebu City’s newest soon-to-open mall, has tied up with SaveMore Supermarket and Star Appliance Center, both affiliates of the SM Group of Companies.

Cebu Central Realty Corp. (CCRC) president and chairman of the board Augus-to Go said that aside from the mall’s accessible location, the mall would surely draw crowds because of the SM companies in the area.

The mall is located on N. Bacalso Ave. and Leon Kilat St., right beside the Ceres and south bus terminals.

SaveMore has a branch located outside the Mactan Economic Zone 1.

Go also said the mall is open to people from all walks of life. It will also have “tiangges” like the ones in Divisoria in Manila.

“We did not make the mall a high-end enterprise because people nowadays are very practical,” he said.

The mall is also just walking distance from schools like the University of San Carlos, Cebu Normal University, University of San Jose-Recoletos and University of Cebu (UC).

Go, who is also president of UC, said the 30,000-square-meter mall is named after his wife, Elizabeth.

People interested in starting a business wouldn’t have to invest a lot because the lease rate for stores is cheaper compared with those of other malls, he said.

The mall would accommodate tenants in the retail business such as food chains and restaurants, fashion boutiques and shoe stores, appliance and home centers, bookstores and novelty shops, heath and beauty parlors, supermarket, food court and three cinemas. Parking lots are also available.

Architect Omar Maxwell Espina, who also designed Raintree Mall and Cocomall, said Elizabeth Mall’s facade would be heavily lighted during the evening to make the usually dark area very safe and welcoming.

All in all, Espina said, the mall would have a bright and colorful appearance.

Elizabeth Mall, which is set to open in October, will be Cebu City’s 11th mall.
