Mandaue forges sister ties with 2 towns
By Aledel A. Gonzales

THE municipalities of Dumanjug and Ronda became “sisters” of the City of Mandaue as they signed a memorandum of agreement (MOU) for the special relations of the local government units in Cebu.

The agreement will “strengthen their ties of friendship, understanding, partnership and cooperation.”

Dumanjug Mayor Cesar Baricuatro and Ronda Ma-yor Mariano Blanco III were with their respective municipal councils at the Mandaue City Hall yesterday morning for the signing of their MOUs with the Mandaue City Government.

“This is beneficial in our running our respective governments. We will learn from each other,” said Mandaue City Vice Mayor Amadeo Seno Jr.

For her part, Ronda Vice Mayor Victoria Blanco promised that her town will keep the relation.

Baricuatro said in his speech that initially, he hesitated to forge ties with a highly urbanized city like Mandaue.

He decided to go on with the special relation, saying the town could learn much from it and make Dumanjug like Mandaue City someday.

With the signing of the MOU, Mandaue City and the two towns agree to “engage in activities that would advance economic, social, technological, cultural and political interests.”
