Suspected pusher ‘shoots’ dispatcher By Oscar C. Pineda
A TRANSPORT dispatcher in Lapu-Lapu City remains in critical condition after he was shot for allegedly informing the police about drug pushers in the area.
Rodel Tampus, 34, was shot in the suspect’s place in Villa Verna, Barangay Marigondon last Tuesday, three days after police operatives conducted a raid in the barangay and arrested seven persons for drugs.
Tampus went to the area to play cards, but was instead dragged to a darkly lit place and shot. Suspect Jimbo Deliva, 29, fled after the incident.
Homicide investigator PO2 Alden Daño said Tampus, who is from Ba-rangay Basak, sustained gunshot wounds in the back.
He was rushed to the Lapu-Lapu District Hospital and later transferred to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.
Daño narrated in his spot report that Tampus and a certain Jorge went to the said place to play cards.
Upon reaching the place, the suspect allegedly grabbed the victim and dragged him towards the dark area where he was shot.
Homicide Chief Geoffrey Baguio said the shooting came after the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) conducted a raid last Saturday in Barangay Maribago.
Armed with a search warrant issued by Judge Benedicto Cobarde, CIDG operatives raided the house of Lucila Aton, 34, a suspected drug pusher, and arrested her.
Ermenio Tagsip, Lowell Gomez, Lucio Ponce, Roger Serafin, Gonzalo Ondot and Joselito Ricarte were also arrested after they were caught repacking shabu.
Confiscated from the suspects were two packs of suspected shabu, 27 decks of suspected shabu, P3,710 cash and two handguns, a .38 and a .357.
Baguio said, they still need to verify whether the shooting stemmed from last Saturday’s drug raid.
