Batch ‘88, Eco-Tech in finals
By Rommel C. Manlosa

Game tonight: (championship)
(City Sports Club gym)
7 p.m. – Class 1996-A vs. Class 1988

SINNERS and Saints ‘88 showed more determination as it whipped Chester Enterprises ’83, 75-53, to retain the Division A title and forge a one-game championship with three-peater Eco-Tech Appliance ‘96-A, which survived Dendramil Merchandizing ’94, 63-60, in the Cecaba-5th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the City Sports Club Gym.

The Class ’88 cagers will be eyeing the title denied them by Class ’93 last year, while Class ‘96-A, which has recorded the league’s longest winning run, eyes to reclaim the title.

Erwin Yu led the onslaught as he finished with 17 points as Ernest Tanting and Rey Kenneth Ng added 12 and 11 points.

Class ’88 broke away from a 15-all deadlock with a 23-7 bomb in the second quarter.

Class ’88 tried to fight back in the third but could only come within 39-53 to start the final period, when the younger batch unleashed a fiery 22-13 blitz that put the game out of reach.

Edwin Ang topped the losing team with 29 points, while the rest of the Class ’83 members failed to score in double-digit.

Meanwhile, the combined 43-point output of Jennis Lim, Mark Ryan Babor and Arniel Frank Pelaez was a huge factor for Class ‘96-A as they bucked the 30-point performance of Anwar Satina.

Class ’94 took the opening quarter, 17-11, before the younger squad regained momentum to close the third period, 47-40. Class ‘96-A then played heads-up basketball to preserve the lead until the final buzzer.

Class 1996-A (63) – Lim 15, Pelaez 14, Babor 14, Wang 6, Donayre 6, Lariosa 3, Go 3, Baron 2. Class 1994 (60) – Satina 30, Chua 8, Yu 8, Jao 6, De Asis 4, Peρa 2, Bejer 2.

Class 1988 (75) – E. Yu 17, Tanting 12, Ng 11, Dy 8, Ting 6, R. Yu 6, Lim 5, Chua 4, Po 2, Lu 2, Ong 2. Class 1983 (53) – Ang 29, Tan 8, Lim 7, Cokaliong 4, Ting 3, Yu 1.
