CBF prez wants players tested for drugs
By Christian Ben Rodriguez

CEBU Basketball Federation President Lito Gillamac has vowed to support drug testing of players playing in CBF tournaments.

Gillamac, who is also the chief executive officer of Gillamac’s Marketing Corp., told Sun.Star yesterday that the project of Cebu City Councilor Jack Jakosalem to implement drug testing among local players can greatly help in making the players maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle.

“I will fully support this initiative by Jakosalem and make sure that the players will think twice before using illegal drugs here in the CBF,” Gillamac said.

Gillamac will soon meet with the CBF board of directors regarding the matter and will announce whatever decision they make soon. The CBF president wants stiff penalties for those found using drugs and plans to follow the penalties set by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

“I know that we must enforce discipline and integrity in our league and it’s either we suspend or we fire the players found positive,” Gillamac said.

He said players who have reached the commercial leagues must be models to the young and be the good examples to the youth.
