By Jade S. Violeta

A TOTAL of P100,000 in cash prizes is at stake in the 2003 National Open Mountainbike Championships on June 28-29 in Barangay Manlayag Patag, Danao City.

Danao City Councilor Oscar “Boying” Rodriguez, also the chairman of the Danao City Sports Commission, told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday that the prizes will be distributed to the three categories in the Downhill competition and to the seven divisions of the Cross Country event.

The champion in the Open division of the Downhill, which will serve as the event’s opening salvo on the 29th, will pocket P10,000 while the second to fifth placers will receive P5,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000.

The top five winners in the Intermediate and Beginners categories, on the other hand, will be awarded medals.

In the Cross Country race, the Open/Expert division winner will take home P10,000, while the second and third placers will be given P5,000 and P3,000.

The top three winners in the Junior, Senior and Ladies’ divisions will pocket P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000. The top three finishers in the Veterans and Masters A and B will take home P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000.
