CIE offers Cisco networking scholarships

THE Centre for International Education (CIE) recently opened the school year by offering scholarships to information technology (IT) professionals through the Cisco Networking Academy Program.

Cisco Systems, the leading provider of networking products and services in the world, has made its mark in the IT industry through the introduction of its Networking Academy program in 1997, said a statement.

All over the world, IT professionals and aspiring system administrators alike have benefited greatly from the program and have improved their careers because of it.

CIE, which started incorporating the program in 2000, is one of Cebu’s first Cisco Networking Academies, alongside the Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise in Talamban.

This year, with its scholarship offering, more Cebuano IT enthusiasts can avail themselves of the networking courses.

With the scholarship, students will pay only P2,200 to P3,200 for each semester or term. Upon completion, students taking the certification exam will get a 70 percent subsidy. The CCNA Certification Review will already be included in the program.

The whole networking course consists of four modules, with each module delivered in one semester. After a student completes the whole program, a certificate of completion will be provided.

Students will now be able to take the certification examinations in CIE’s Authorized Prometric Testing Center (APTC) in-house facility.

The CCNA certification is a globally recognized certification, the statement said.

In CIE, classes are mainly categorized into two: OLM (online mode) and ILT (instructor-led training).

OLM classes do away with the lectures except for sessions involving training in the laboratory. On the other hand, ILT classes are done by CIE’s own Cisco Certified Academy Instructors, the statement said.

Until September of this year, CIE is still accepting applicants for the CCNA Program.
