Online recruitment agency to open Cebu branch for Vismin jobseekers

JOBSTREET.COM Philippines is set to launch its branch and expand its operations in Cebu this year.

“As the regional growth center, Cebu exerts a lot of influence in the Visayas and Mindanao (Vismin) regions, and it also cuts down the unemployment rate in the South,” JobStreet general manager Candace Alabanza-Iyog told Sun.Star.

JobStreet, an online recruitment agency established in the Philippines in 1999, has affiliates in Malaysia, Singapore and India. Its office in the Philippines is located in Manila.

“With our physical presence in this fast-growing economic area, we hope to contribute to the development of the whole southern region,” Iyog said.

Next to Manila, Cebu is the prime destination for jobseekers in the Vismin area, she said.

In this part of the country, she said, Cebu is the leader in education, travel and trade. It is also a booming and world-class information technology (IT) center.

According to Iyog, several projects are already being planned for the company’s launch in Cebu.

For starters, JobStreet will offer free job postings for Cebu-based employers and seek partnerships with Cebu based-governments, private organizations and schools.

JobStreet marketing officer Jamie Divinagracia said that before JobStreet fully penetrates Cebu, it would first build its client base and jobseekers base in the area.

Strengthening the client base would give jobseekers plenty of job opportunities to choose from.

“We also want to intensify our jobseekers base so we would be able to give employers plenty of qualified applicants to choose from,” she said. AEL
