Talk back: Not in Alcantara town
By Invicto C. Alcantara
Dalaguete, Cebu

IN THE news item, “Ambulance plows into gate,” (Sun.Star Cebu, July 16 2003), the “Alcantara” referred to is not the town of Alcantara. Rather, this refers to the Dr. Ildefonso Q. Alcantara Memorial Hospital, which is located in Dalaguete, Cebu only 18 kilometers from Argao where the nurse lived.

Nurse Baby Renea, who acted on the request of a neighbor to escort a patient to Cebu City, has indeed become a shining example like Florence Nightingale: She sacrificed her life to serve other people.

The irony there is that the patient whom she escorted to Cebu City is now back in Argao and is very much alive.
