Gang of 15 shoots, stabs to death member of rival frat
AROUND 15 suspected gang members attacked and killed a still unidentified man along Osmeña Blvd., Barangay Sto. Niño, Cebu City yesterday dawn.
The attackers are said to be members of the Trese Hudas gang while the fatality was allegedly a member of their rival gang, Katorse Banal.
Both gangs have gained notoriety downtown, police confirmed.
SPO1 Alex Dacua of the homicide section said the victim and a friend were sitting on the gutter by the roadside when a group of youngsters approached them.
Witness Benjie Oloberio said the group came armed with handguns and bladed weapons.
One of them approached the victim and, when the man turned his head to look, shot him in the forehead.
Then, another member of the group drew near, taunted, “Buhi pa diay ka?” (What, you’re still alive?) and stabbed the victim in the chest with an ice pick.
After the attack, the group immediately left.
The victim’s companion was able to hide, while the victim was brought to Cebu City Medical Center. He died.
As of 7 last night, nobody came forward to claim the victim’s body.
Based on their investigation, the police learned that the attackers were members of the Trese Hudas while the victim and his companion were members of Katorse Banal.
The homicide section is looking into gang rivalry as one probable motive for the attack.
Dacua said the Trese Hudas’ bailiwick is the Carbon area while Katorse Banal holds sway over the Junquera and Sanciangko stretch.
Their members have been accused of being snatchers, robbers and drug users. MBG
