Harurot spares Cebu
TYPHOON Harurot spared the Visayas region as it changed direction and headed for northern Luzon. It would have been the third storm to dump rains and gales in the Visayas in the past week, after Gilas and Imbudo.
As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the typhoon was 730 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, packing winds at 145 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness at 175 kilometers per hour.
It was expected to move northwest at 15 kilometers per hour.
The Mactan weather bureau expects the typhoon to be 800 kilometers from Virac, Catanduanes or 760 kilometers east-southeast of Casiguran, Aurura tomorrow afternoon.
Public storm signal number one is in effect over Dinagat Island, Samar and Leyte Provinces, Biliran Island, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes and Camarines Provinces. AIV
