CEBU Basketball Federation (CBF) representative General Feeds Megamix endured a hostile crowd as well as alleged bad officiating to score a hair-raising 92-88 win Thursday night over early tormentor Montaña Pawnshop, and clinch the Kadayawan Basketball Tournament – Cesar Almario Sr. Memorial Cup at the Gaisano South SkyGym in Davao City.

The Feeds Masters, who plucked their first championship since winning the CBF Charter Cup last year, had to undergo a rugged second half before tasting vengeance over the Jewels.

Coming prepared and determined after suffering their lone elimination round loss at the hands of Montaña, the Feeds Masters managed to seal the win in the final minutes as Alfie Grijaldo and Rex Mangubat went to work down low to lead the team with 18 and 17 points.

Spitfire Alex Cainglet was in his usual form as he led the backcourt assault of the Cebuanos with Davaoeño Dennis Concha, as both finished with 15 points apiece.
Cainglet was named Most Valuable Player owing to his scoring consistency, intensity on defense and overall performance that greased the General Feeds’ victory.

“I’m just glad the breaks went our way in the crucial minutes, though we had to endure some bad calls before we pulled through. The boys were determined and stayed focused on the game,” said head coach Edsel Vallena.

General Feeds lost grip of the lead in the third quarter, but when crunchtime came, Grijaldo, Mangubat, Cainglet, Concha and Jett Latonio stepped up to bring home the title.

Vallena will be seeking his second title with the Feeds Masters when the CBF Carmen Cup resumes on Aug. 30 at the Carmen Municipal Sports Complex.RCM
