Pals, Hotdogs eye to improve slate
By Glenn C. Micheleana

IT WON’T be easy, but it can be done.

The Purefoods TJ Hotdogs and the Shell Turbochargers will try to improve on their respective single-win cards tonight when they tangle against powerful adversaries in the Samsung-PBA Reinforced Conference doubleheader at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Shell, 1-2, will take on the sensational Terence Shannon and the rest of the revitalized FedEx in the first game at 5 p.m. while the 1-3 TJ Hotdogs goes up against Talk ‘N Text Phonepals at 7:30 p.m.

The Hotdogs, on the other hand, may have their backs against the wall against the 3-1 Phone Pals, who are terrorizing the league with the dreaded triumvirate of Asi Taulava, import Damien Cantrell, and rookie sensation Jimmy Alapag.

Taulava, whose recent dominating performances earned him the PBA Player of the week honors, is the league’s leading MVP candidate, Cantrell is one of the top imports around averaging 41 points the last week, while Alapag, a 5-8 lightning rod, is one of the best point guards in the PBA today.
