DHL Customs Bonded Warehouse to facilitate Cebu trade
By Jessica B. Natad

THE opening of DHL Philippines’ Customs Bonded Warehouse (CBW) located in the Mactan-Cebu International Airport compound will encourage more local and foreign entrepreneurs to do business in Cebu.

“This new facility will facilitate trade in Cebu. This will enhance the business climate of the area,” said Customs Deputy Collector for Operations Roger J. Lim.

DHL’s CBW is named CBW 87 because it is the 87th CBW in Central Visayas, he told Sun.Star.

CBWs are warehouses or stockrooms built and operated by a private company but supervised by the Bureau of Customs (BOC), CBW Division Chief Paul Alcazaren said.

Because a BOC representative is stationed at a CBW, customs clearance procedures are done in the facility, he said.

The integration of Customs operations into a centralized clearance process for all shipments was one of the advantages cited by DHL on the launching of CBW 87 Tuesday.

“The DHL CBW will certainly give DHL customers the competitive advantage. As the country’s partner in facilitating trade, we are proud of CBW 87, as part of our standard operations, catering exclusively to the needs of our DHL customers,” DHL Philippines country manager Charles Brewer said.

He said CBW 87 would allow direct routing and faster clearance of inbound international shipments, which is one of the most important requirements of businesses, in Cebu.

DHL is now a one-stop shop serving the parcel and logistics needs of its clients, after DHL, Danzas and Deutshe Post consolidated their operations last year through the Star integration program.
