THE University of the Visayas Green Lancers again showed their might by preying on the hapless University of Cebu Webmasters with a one-sided 114-69 win to stay unbeaten in 30 games in the 2003 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) college basketball at the USC Gym Thursday evening.

The Baby Lancers also stayed undefeated in 10 games following an 80-63 victory over the Baby Webmasters in the high-school division.

It was tough for the Green Lancers in the early goings before they established their dominance after posting a 46-26 lead at the bend.

UV never looked back as they wiped out any resistance the Webmasters could put up in the second half.

Season-leading MVP contender Joseph Ronald “Baby Shaq” Quiñahan led the slaughter as he drilled in 14 points, while Mark Ababon, Morsie Akad and last year’s Rookie of the Year awardee, Jayford Rodriguez, along with Jessie Binongo and Arturo Pepito Jr. also contributed to the well-balanced UV offensive charge.

In the high-school game, the Webmasters put up a good show but the talented Baby Lancers prevailed over the listless Baby Webmasters down the final stretch.

Today, the much-awaited rematch between University of Southern Philippines Panthers and University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars will be featured in the main game at the USP Gym.

The winners will automatically get second place in the elimination round but both teams have already secured a slot in the semifinal round.
