Serna: Cory: a mother’s unconditional love By Roger Serna Sounds & Images
For sure you’ve already had enough of the Kris Aquino-Joey Marquez break-up. Lest I be accused of giving you an overload and overdose to the point of inducing you to puke over these things, let’s shift to another angle of the story.
That scene showing former Pres. Cory Aquino calmly leading Kris inside their home (after Kris practically cried a river on the shoulder of her mom) was worth a thousand, even a million words.
That very moment, Madam Cory was a picture of an ideal mother — strong, forgiving, loving, generous and practically everything any offspring could wish for in a mother.
The line attributed by Kris to her mom when the former ran to the latter for refuge: “Don’t worry, you’re home,” goes straight to the heart, tugging at its very delicate fiber. It was very touching. As other writers described it, it was the most vivid picture of a mother’s unconditional love.
Don’t you wish you had a mother as loving and lovable as Madam Cory? If you’re mom is already like her, you’re lucky, perhaps the luckiest ever (hopefully, you are aware of that).
If that’s the case, just like the child who was shown with his mom before she lit a vigil candle while praying in that Jollibee commercial, you have all the reasons to look up to the invisible Almighty One and say: “Thank you, po!”

Ah, life! After bordering on melodrama, let’s go for the lighter side of life. Here’s something for the typical Cebuanos who are always in search of something new on the scene, be it outlets for food, entertainment or simply some place to unwind and relax.
The very popular Starbucks coffee shop in Manila and elsewhere in the world will open its first shop in Cebu this week, on Friday, Oct. 3, to be exact. That Starbucks coffee shop that brews perfect cups of specialty coffee, that Starbucks coffee shop that sells that Starbucks coffee mug you’ve been dreaming of owning.
The first Starbucks coffee shop is conveniently located at the Ayala Center Cebu area. Check it out.

The term ‘meddah” is reportedly a Sanskrit word that means “loving care.” This meaning is what the owners of Meddah Spa would want their clients to experience while availing themselves of the different services they offer.
The spa is said to be the first one in Cebu city with oriental inspiration and a world-class one at that. It offers a unique blend of relaxation and communion with nature and focuses on providing three things for its clients: wellness, well-being and relaxation.
Meddah Spa is located at the Crossroads in Banilad.

Speaking of the Crossroads, yours truly was in the company of friends and associates (o-ha!) when we decided to listen to live music and headed for Highlife located in that food and entertainment arcade.
The performers that night were Livewyre back to back with Triple Play. Admittedly, yours truly is already quite familiar with Livewyre since I have seen this group in several gigs in various parts of the city as well as in its out of town performance in my own hometown of Oslob last month during the Sadsad Festival.
It was the other group that aroused my curiosity especially when our group spotted familiar faces. It was a pleasant surprise to see once again rhythm guitarist Edward, bass guitarist Joel and drummer George onstage doing what they like best, that is, playing beautiful music. The female vocalist is another friend, Chline.
If you don’t have an idea who these guys are, well, they used to be part of “Southern Philippines hottest band” Stagecrew before they called it quits for reasons they alone and the band’s management know.
Anyway, it’s good to know you’re around, guys. Keep going and keep me posted so I can keep my readers (are there any?) posted too! See you again soon!
