Aboitizland ‘new urbanism’ project signs in international consultants

ABOITIZLAND is adopting key concepts inspired by a revolutionary community design called New Urbanism for its newest project to be launched this year.

And its project team has already signed in international consultancy firms ACL Asia Inc., Urbis Philippines Inc. and TCGI Engineers for this project, which will be located at the Bacayan area in Talamban, some 20 minutes’ drive from the center of Cebu City.

New urbanism combines the best of the past with the realities and modern conveniences of today. Its designs integrate housing, shops, workplaces, parks and civic facilities into close-knit communities. Walkability is the key, and neighborly ties are strengthened, a statement said.

Aboitizland president and chief operating officer Andoni Aboitiz said: “We try to make it a point to break new paradigms. One of these is having all facilities underground, having more green area and putting a lot more man-hours thinking and rethinking what is needed.

Relevant

“We searched for the right consultants and got a consultant for landscaping, master planning, quantity surveying, engineering and name brand building. We touched on many disciplines with the end in mind of coming up with a very unique and relevant project. That’s one of our core values—developing communities that are innovative but relevant.”

Aboitizland vice president for marketing and business development Gladys Ceniza said the consultancy firms are the best in their respective fields of expertise and credited with a roster of top-caliber projects both in the Philippines and abroad.

ACL Asia Inc. is an award winning landscape architectural consultancy firm. From a head office based in Hong Kong, ACL Asia has subsidiary offices in Malaysia, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Canada, China and the Philippines.

Its significant design awards include international design competition winner for Mong Ha Urban Park, Macau, design-build competition for a swimming pool complex for Sun Yat Sen’s Park, Swimming Pool, Macau and international landscape design and planning competition winner for the greening of Metro Manila, Philippines.

Sentosa

Among its numerous projects are Sentosa Island Parkland, Singapore, Ocean Park Aviary, Hong Kong and Penang Hill Resort Quarry Theme Park in Malaysia. Its expertise in landscape planning is a valued resource for Aboitizland’s upscale integrated residential community.

Also an award-winning consultancy firm, Urbis Philippines Inc. has been responsible for a significant number of key large-scale planning and urban design projects commissioned over the last 23 years. Urbis provides technical support for the master planning of Aboitizland’s upcoming project.

Formed in Hong Kong in 1977, Urbis established Urbis Philippines Inc. in 1997 with working experience gained in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau, the People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, India, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tuvalu, the United Kingdom, France, the United States and Russia.

TCGI Engineers, an ISO 9001:2000 certified engineering consultancy firm, has more than two decades of experience in providing integrated engineering services in the planning, design and implementation of industrial, commercial and institutional projects.

Based in Makati City, TCGI serves a wide range of clients from large municipalities, cities, rural communities and government agencies to private industries, corporations and other entities in the Philippines and abroad—particularly in Kuwait, Hawaii, Hong Kong, Palau, Saipan and other Pacific islands.

Aboitizland’s upscale integrated residential community will be a true neighborhood where one can live, shop, play and even work. It will have a retail and entertainment area, an office park and a village center all combined into one ingeniously master-planned project. It will be a beautifully landscaped place with everything within 10-minutes’ walk.
