NATURE. One nice way of enjoying and experiencing the beauty of nature at night is a moonlight trek to Discovery Hills (DH) up on the mountains of Babag Dos this city. I have already been to DH twice and without fear of contradiction, I say that it is a paradise-like place, very conducive to communing with nature. As a tourism destination, DH is tops. I hope local tour agencies would include DH in their travel packages. At any rate, it is offering a two-night trek for the public this Saturday and Sunday. Those who want to join are asked to assemble at the JY Mall in Lahug at 6:30 p.m. The first 20 guests or customers can avail themselves of free tents. For details on how to join the moonlight trek, call or text Nene’s cellphone number 0919-7140455.

BAND. This local band is unique when it comes to performance. Male vocalist Alex Nuñez, female vocalist Zarren Cajegas, guitarist Noel Villarba, bass guitarist Nick Aratea, organist Boy Acelo and drummer Allan Dy – who call themselves the Mix.Com – are performing regularly at Papa’s Roast and Seafoods Restaurant. They make people enjoy fine music and Nuñez’s occasional jokes and one-liners are a cause of laughter. Catch them there from Wednesday to Sunday and be truly delighted.

TALISAY. The Talisay city government is cooking up a big event for over 50 balikbayans this Saturday evening at the city’s sports and cultural complex. Balik-Talisay Night features local performers as entertainers like the Vicenta A. Manreal Elementary School Rondalla, Cansojong National High School Dance Troupe, soloists Manny Cabuenas and Jennifer Sabado, Jaclupan Women’s Association, Talisay City Central School Dancing Toes and haranista Enrique “Eking” Fernandez. City Councilor Richel Bacaltos chairs this major event.

COMPETITION. So far, this writer has already judged two editions of the SuperFerry Super Kampeon ng Kantahan singing competition aired over dySS and seen on GMA 7 Cebu. Thus far, the contest had already been staged in Mandaue city and Talisay city. The three other editions will be on Oct. 25 at SM City Cebu, Nov. 15 in Bogo and Nov. 29 in Toledo city. Hosts are Lou Dayoc, Mafe Castillo and Carlo Flores. This singing competition is a good opportunity for local talents to be exposed and given the break as performers.

STUDENT. This one-time Cebuana teleseries star is back to school. Her mom no longer hates her because she is no longer a “standby.” (For reactions/feedback, call or text 0916-3483333).
