Bigfoot Foundation supports water conservation
BIGFOOT Asia Pacific Foundation Inc. recently participated in the celebration of Cebu's Water Conservation Month, an event organized by the Cebu Uniting for Sustainable Water (CUSW).
Under the theme, "One World, One Water, One Life," this year's activities were geared towards creating greater awareness and understanding of water resources conservation and management, as well as motivating the public to act on environmental issues.
Bigfoot sponsored the Guadalupe River Clean-up Drive, to focus on the plight of our rivers polluted from constant dumping of industrial and household wastes.
More than 500 students and professionals from the University of Cebu, University of San Jose-Recoletos, Cebu Normal University, Department of Education and NSTIC joined the activity.
The foundation actively supports long term and sustainable causes that impact on education and environment. This year, the foundation shelled out a total of US$250, 000 which covered the funding for the construction of 22 learning centers (20 in Cebu, one in Negros and one for Ylac Free School Foundation), training for 50 teachers and purchase of computer sets for these centers.
With the fund, Bigfoot also granted scholarships to selected seminarians at the San Carlos Seminary College as well as other deserving students in Cebu city. It also donated communication equipment to the Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation (Eruf) in support of Cebu city's anti-Sars campaign.
