Report non-issuance of receipts: public told
By Jessica B. Natad

THE Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is urging consumers to report the names and addresses of professionals or commercial establishments not issuing official receipts.

According to a document furnished Sun.Star, complainants will be entitled to an informer’s reward pursuant to Section 282 of the Tax Code. But the reward will be given only after investigation, assessment and collection of the deficiency taxes.

Complaints on non-issuance of receipts may be relayed through text messaging or BIR’s telephone numbers 981-70-00 and 929-76-76.

The format for complaints through text messages is as follows: (space) name of professional, business or commercial establishment (space) address of the establishment. Then send to 2393 for Globe and Touch Mobile subscribers, and 345 to Smart and Talk and Text subscribers.

Meanwhile, BIR Region 13 had its third weekly regional draw for BIR’s Bayan, I-Txt and Resibo, Part II promotion yesterday.

The winners are Globe subscriber Luther Bartolome from Pardo, Cebu, and Smart subscriber Reinhard Maranan from Mabolo, Cebu City.

The winners will receive P25,000 each.

On the sidelines of the raffle draw, BIR information systems operations service data center Head Victoria de Leon told Sun.Star that the BIR had decided to extend the e-raffle promotion to Dec. 15, and make it a regional one to “ensure the participation of each region.”

The scope of the promotion’s first part, which began in June 1 and ended last September, was national, she said.

“We encourage the participation of the people in each region. This is to encourage business establishments to issue receipts, at the same time encourage the clients to ask for receipts from the establishment or person who renders them service,” de Leon said.

She encouraged everyone to join the promotion and have the chance to win cash prizes, as well as help the government increase its revenues.

According to the document, only official receipts, sales or cash invoices, and cash register machines’ point-of-sales receipts issued starting Sept. 15 can qualify in the upcoming raffle draws.

Just P100

A minimum receipt amount of P100 entitles the consumer to one raffle chance.

Those interested may text their entries to 2393 for Globe and Touch Mobile subscribers and 345 for Smart subscribers.

The format is as follows: RESIBO (space) TIN of professional, business or commercial establishment *receipt number* amount of purchase.
