Cheaper cell phone batteries By Jessica B. Natad
A CEBU-BASED company has partnered with a cellular phone battery manufacturer in China to make cellular phone batteries more affordable in the Philippines.
XeeVoo Mobile Communications chief executive officer Ruben Virtucio said its partner in China is also the manufacturer of the batteries of Nokia cellular phone units.
During a press conference on the opening of its outlet at FoodSavers Mart last week, he told Sun.Star that XeeVoo is the first company outside Metro Manila to assemble lithium ion cellular phone batteries.
Outsourced
Virtucio said the company is outsourcing the manufacturing of the battery.
“The market potential for batteries is big. But we can’t manufacture the products ourselves because it would entail big capital, which will translate to higher prices,” he said.
XeeVoo is selling its batteries at P320 on the average. There is also a six-month guarantee on the products from the date of purchase.
XeeVoo batteries will be sold throughout the country through XeeVoo’s partner distributor, Junrex Cellular Phones and Accessories, he said.
XeeVoo distributes batteries for the Nokia models 5110, 6110, 3210,3310, 8210,8850,8910 and 2100.
Virtucio assures that XeeVoo batteries are 40 percent more powerful than the average battery in the market today.
