Canon introduces stylish digi-cams, PictBridge compatible printers

Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. recently introduced its newest design in the Ixus line of compact digital cameras, seven PictBridge printers and five bubble jet printers.

The launch cum fashion show was held at the Cebu City Marriott Hotel.

Canon’s VP for marketing in dealer-channel Vincy Sanchez said the company is proud to be one of the first among the Southeast Asian countries to carry a revolutionary technology “Picture bridge” (PictBridge) that allows its photo printers to print directly from digital cameras and videos from Canon and other brands.

“With regards to our new line of digital cameras, they are trendy and stylish, super slim, extremely compact and designed to be carried in a shirt or jacket pocket,” he said.

“The new cameras we have are lifestyle products. They’re like cellphones which you can carry on a daily basis. This is a new trend in the market now,” he added.

Any Pictbridge or digital video camera can be compatible for printers, clarified Angelo Martinez, Canon’s sales and marketing manager for consumer and imaging product division.

“We’re targeting the digi-cam users to have their own printers. We have high penetration for home printers market though. We’re taking it a step further,” Martinez revealed.

Sanchez disclosed, however, that Canon always aspires to bring its products closer to its market. “With MDR Microwaresales as our partnering distributor, I believe we are now closer to our potential clients in the Visayas and Mindanao regions. We’re the only one to strategize to change our distribution.”

Fashion statement in photography

Canon’s newest digital cameras boast of a new standard for style and design.

A leader in digital and film photography nationwide and worldwide, Canon said the new camera models have maximum recording pixels for still images, while the sharp and full-color images are displayed on a 1.5-inch low-temperature monitor displaying shooting and playback menus.

Designed to be the perfect digital companion and fashion statement for anyone, the new models are equipped with high resolution, fixed focal-length lens, powerful digital zoom, quick shot function, three-minute movie mode, and direct print mode that is compliant with the new PictBridge industry standard.

High-quality prints

Canon said that its seven new PictBridge printers and five new bubble jet printers (i455, i475D, i560, i865 and i905D) offer high-quality prints of up to 4,800dpi resolution, delivering ultra-fine prints to achieve ultimate photo print quality.

They can connect directly with digi-cams of any brand for the printing of digital images. (Rudynah D. Entera, PR-features writer)
