100 more cops to augment City’s force
By Mia E. Abellana

WITH a long line of activities scheduled for the holidays, 100 policemen are expected to augment the existing force of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO).

Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 Director Rolando Garcia ordered the Personnel Division to assign policemen from the Regional Mobile Group (RMG) to the CCPO.

The augmentation team will provide police visibility as the city expects people to attend several activities for the coming holidays.

Effective yesterday, Garcia ordered the deployment of 100 RMG personnel to the CCPO until the Sinulog festival is over.

However, only 83 RMG trainees were available.

The remaining personnel will follow as soon as they can assume their duties.
The augmentation force will be under the CPPO headquarters and will not be fielded to the stations.

“It was the operations division that perceived the lack of personnel for visibility although Gen. Garcia was already thinking about it,” Sandalo told reporters.

As the Misa de Gallo starts today, patrols are to be enforced not only in churches but also in residential areas.

Supt. Melvin Gayotin, CCPO deputy for administration, said that while the people are attending the dawn masses, burglars and other lawless elements might take advantage of the their absence.
