Policeman faces probe for being ‘drunk’ again
By Mia E. Abellana

A POLICEMAN earlier reprimanded for being drunk inside a police station is under investigation for the same offense.

A text message reached Cebu City Police Office Director Cecil Ezra Sandalo saying Calixto Sanchez, deputy chief of the Waterfront Police Station, was very drunk and making a ruckus inside the station late Sunday night.

Sandalo ordered Waterfront Police Station Chief Noel Gillamac to have Sanchez taken home.

Though he was off duty, Sandalo said Sanchez should not have been in the station drunk.
Gillamac will be handling the investigation on Sanchez.

In the middle of this year, Sanchez was reprimanded for the same offense.

He was also off duty at the time when caught inside the station very drunk. (Sanchez, though, did not bring any liquor in the premises.)

Last June, a local news crew caught three uniformed policemen of the same station drinking in Barangay Capitol Site.

They were disarmed and suspended for 15 days without benefits.

After such reports, Gillamac assured that his men do not drink inside the station.
“Even Sanchez did not drink inside the station. He merely dropped by,” Gillamac said.

He said he could not strip Sanchez of his right to drink because he was off duty.

“He was not creating mischief. Mao ra man gud na ang iyang outlet sa iyang stress,” Gillamac said.

Sanchez is expected to hand in his written explanation today.

If Gillamac is not satisfied with it, he said he will impose disciplinary actions against Sanchez.

He is also asking those who want to file a complaint against Sanchez to come forward and give their statements.

If he finds that Sanchez was being rude, Gillamac will look for witnesses so proper charges can be filed against him.
