USC law professor admitted to master programme in Sweden
A professor of Intellectual Property Laws at the University of San Carlos (USC) College of Law has been admitted to the Master Programme in European Intellectual Property Law at the Department of Law at Stockholm University in Sweden.
Atty. Eugeniano Perez III will leave the country for a year-long study in Sweden starting Jan. 16.
He will first be immersed in the study of the fundamental areas of intellectual property (IP) law at an advanced level.
He will also have the opportunity to specialize in a particular area of IP law and work independently to solve legal problems.
The programme will also equip him with various legal methods. As a final output, he will present a thesis on the subject.
The USC College of Law has existing student and faculty exchange programs with Stockholm, the largest law faculty in Sweden.
Under the student exchange program, USC sends two law students to the Swedish university for a year-long study, all expense paid by the host school. In return, Stockholm sends two of its students to USC to study Philippine laws and culture for one academic year.
Under the faculty exchange program, faculty members of the two schools conduct an annual three-week visit to each school to share knowledge and expertise on each of the country’s laws and jurisprudence.
Since the programs’ inception, USC has sent dean Corazon Evangelista-Valencia and Atty. Alex Monteclar to Sweden for lecture discussions.
Prior to the exchange programs, former dean Gabriel T. Ingles also conducted a lecture in the country.
USC also received Prof. Ronnie Eklund, Stockholm’s Department of Law head, and Prof. David Fisher. Stockholm University opened its LL.M. degree in European Intellectual Property Law in 2000. To date, there are only four Filipinos admitted to its master programme, and Perez is the first to be admitted to its European Intellectual Property Law course.
