Atgi encourages domestic travel By Jessica B. Natad
ABOITIZ Transport Group Inc. (Atgi), formerly WG&A, will enhance its “sail-away” packages this year to promote travel within the Philippines.
Atgi’s “sail-away” packages were launched to support the Department of Tourism’s “WOW Philippines” tourism marketing and promotions campaign, Atgi corporate communications manager Gina Virtucio said in a statement.
Tourism Secretary Richard Gordon earlier urged the hotels and airlines to make attractive tour packages to encourage tourists to travel around the Philippines.
Stakeholders of Cebu’s tourism industry said they had delegated the task of creating packages to their partner-travel agents.
Atgi has tour packages that will bring tourists from Manila to ports of call in Cebu, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Coron in Palawan, Cotabato, Davao and Boracay through its Superferry vessels.
The sail-away promo is a sea-based comprehensive domestic tour package. There are packages for families, groups traveling through a company incentive, student groups, convention onboard and the apprenticeship by experience package (Apex).
Cathy Nicolas from Atgi’s tours and group sales said Apex allows students of hotel and restaurant management and tourism courses to have their apprenticeship on board the Superyferry vessels.
