Alburo, Jurao slip into semis

BO ALBURO and Arvin Jurao had a cakewalk for a quarterfinal round after the duo blasted Arnel Palermo and Andre Villamor, 6-4, 6-1, yesterday in the Guardo Men’s Open Doubles tennis tournament at the Southern Islands courts.

Another runaway victory figured in another quarterfinal match when the team pf Adonis Lominoque and Neil Bulilan ripped the Soquiño brothers Janjie and Arlo, who earlier bagged their quarterfinals slot through a gripping 6-2, 4-6, 6-7 win against the Econg siblings Redentor and Felizardo.

Meantime, the duo Jason Pinote and Nelson Capecenio claimed a hard-earned quarterfinal ticket after a decision win over the pair of Dwight Alivio and Din-din Cimafranca. The vitors won the first set, 7-6, but lost the second, 4-6, before finally gaining momentum in the third, 6-3.

Pinote and Capecenio will take on the top-seeded pair of Fritz Tabura and Cliff Acaso, today in the last of two quarterfinal matches.

The third-seeded duo of Angelo Suson and Arnel Mediodia, Cebu City’s Private Schools Athletic Association bets, on the other hand, will face Jun-Jun Cabrera and Dodong Gerolaga in another quarterfinal battle.
