7 caught ‘repacking’ shabu
By Garry Cabotaje

FOR the second time, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 operatives arrested Carlito Villaver, a suspected big-time drug trafficker, after they raided his alleged drug distribution center in Talisay City last Wednesday afternoon.

Aside from Villaver, the NBI 7 also arrested seven others who were allegedly caught repacking shabu inside a family compound along Bacho St., Tangke, a coastal barangay known as a drugs haven in Talisay City.

Last November, the same NBI 7 team arrested Villaver outside an uptown hotel while transporting shabu and seized from him 37.37 grams of shabu.

Bail

But the 42-year-old Villaver was able to post bail as the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office downgraded the charge from transportation to mere possession of drugs, the NBI 7 said.

The operatives, led by NBI 7 Executive Officer Nelson Bartolome, were serving an arrest warrant against Villaver for a separate a drug case during the raid.

The bureau earlier got information that Villaver was hiding in the compound, which has several houses and rooms, Bartolome said.

Control

Villaver allegedly controlled the compound’s houses and rooms, which the NBI 7 said have been used as the drug suspect’s distribution center and den for illegal drugs.

The other arrested drug suspects were Elmer Anthony Macasero, 38, of Lipata, Minglanilla; Rene Noguera, 37, of Canduman, Mandaue City; and Ramil Nacario, 39; Ricardo Deipa-rine, 52; Rusty Nacario, 35; Kenneth Labrador, 27; and Cecilio Patalinghug, 34; all of Tangke, Talisay City.

Seized from them were more or less 20 grams of shabu and several drugs paraphernalia.

Tests made on the suspects showed that they were positive of drug use.
NBI 7 Chief Reynaldo Esmeralda, who presented the suspects in a press conference, is confident that this time Villaver will not get off the hook.
