Want to get rid of cellulite?
By Jenara Regis Newman

And other blemishes of the skin? One place to go to is Cebu Derm Haven where you are assured of safe procedures because there is a doctor in the house.

The doctor, Cecilia Ramos-Bernad, hails from Ozamis but opted to reside in Cebu when she married Juan Antonio Bernad. She got her medical degree at the Cebu Institute of Medicine and it was while waiting for the board results that she worked in a skin clinic and realized it was-is-an interesting field. But since Cebu did not have residency training for dermatology, she instead had residency training in family medicine at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Hospital, with dermatology as a sub-specialty. The hospital sent her to train in her preferred field at the Institute of Dermatology in Bangkok. She also had training in dermatological surgery in UCLA-San Diego under Dr. Kimberly Butterick.

When she got out of government service, she set up clinic at the Perpetual Succour Hospital and at the Visayas Community Medical Center, where she treats skin ailments, as well as does dermatological surgery when needed. Her patients often asked her if she would give facials and other beauty treatments. This prompted her to open Cebu Derm Haven in 2000 at the Raintree Mall. This she considers a business, not a medical clinic.

When Derm Haven opened, it was licensed to do cellulite removal with the use of Silklight of Sharplan. This is a non-surgical method of removing cellulite and improving body contour by stimulating circulation to reduce cellulite and by increasing blood flow to connective tissues, strengthening them and improving textures.

Cebu Derm Haven also has an Iontor machine for use on Iontophoresis, to treat acne scars and melasma, through the delivery of medication to cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues without the use of needles, instead it uses direct current with batteries to enhance skin administration of ionizable substances.

Like most skin care salons, Cebu Derm Haven offers facials, acne treatment, and body bleaching, peeling, scrub, wax, and wrap. It also offers treatment to control falling hair and excessive sweating, and offers nonsurgical eyebag removal, foot reflexology and spa, permanent curlash and paraffin wax spa.

Dr. Bernad says Derm Haven patients/customers keep coming back “because of the warmth of the people here and we give them the results they want.” Since she is around to supervise operations, complaints, if any, are attended to immediately. The place has been so successful that in March last year, Cebu Derm Haven opened a branch in Tabunok, Talisay.
