Pinoy impresses Indonesian boxing aficionados
By Rommel C. Manlosa

WORLD No.140 minimum-weight fighter Federico Catubay continues to impress Indonesian boxing fans as he scored a fourth-round technical knockout over local favorite Abrinset Matta in their fight Tuesday night at the RCTI Studio in Jakarta, Indonesia.

However, Pedro Malco Jr. was not as lucky when he lost by unanimous decision to current IBF Pan Pacific Super flyweight champion Wengky Wuwungan in their 10-round non-title match.

In his third visit to Jakarta, international campaigner Catubay scored his second stoppage victory when the ring physician recommended the stoppage of the fight due to Matta’s deep cut on the eye inflicted by the Filipino fighter’s untamed fists.

Catubay recently fought Indonesian Panca Silaban to a draw last Jan. 6 after 10 rounds, only 35 days after he TKOed Yudi Leopard in five rounds.

Matta, who lost to Noel Tuñacao on March 8 of last year, had a decent win-loss-draw record of 18-2-2 before he fought the unknown Catubay.

Meanwhile, undefeated Wuwungan asserted his dominance to score a convincing 97-94, 97-93 and 97-93 decision after 10 rounds.
