Protagonists meet today
By Rommel C. Manlosa

THE main eventers and the supporting cast gather together for the first time in today’s weigh-in ahead of tomorrow’s “Explosion at the Waterfront” Waterfront Cebu City Hotel grand ballroom.

Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) champion and WBC and WBA No.2 contender Randy “Kumo’ng Bato” Suico and the rest of the protagonists of the Rex “Wakee” Salud International boxing promotion will be formally presented today during the special Scoop-Cebu weekly forum at the Ching’s Place in Lahug.

The official weigh-in session of the 64-round mega-bucked card will follow the press conference that will feature two OPBF and one RP championship presentation.

Suico, who is scheduled to fight South African WBC International super-featherweight champion Mzonke Fana in an eliminator fight in April, will defend his 130-pound belt against Korean challenger Seungwon Baek for 12 rounds.

RP junior featherweight champion Jimrex Jaca will challenge Manila-based OPBF jr. featherweight titlist Pedrito Laurente in another 12-round bout.

Cebuano fighter Elmer Gejon will also try to win the vacant RP minimum-weight title vacated by his fellow Mandaue City warrior Rodel Mayol when he engages RP No.1 ranked Jun Arlos in a 12-round encounter.
