CCMC Malward gets Cardinal’s visit

DECEMBER is the season when the benevolent members of the Cebu City Medical Indigency Foundation, with the leadership of His Eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, perform their acts of mercy and compassion at the Malnutrition Ward (Malward) of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC) at the South Expressway.

This year was no exception.

It is the children who are most deserving of a better life, and yet, so wanting in medical care and attention. So, the Foundation chose this particular ward, to be their beneficiary.

One afternoon, during their anniversary, these benevolent ladies with the good Cardinal set out to visit and distribute blessings, both spiritual and temporal to the kids and their families. Every single bed was visited by the group and blessed by the Cardinal. Faces lighted up, and even those who were tied to their bed made an effort to reach out to the Cardinal, so charismatic was he.

Accompanying the assemblage as they went from room to room was the University of Cebu Chorale, more than 20 students who lent their voices and instruments, to spread joy and song to these children!

As a reward, a sumptuous native merienda of local delicacies was prepared by volunteer Auring Castillo, which was gobbled up immediately by the group. Now, they will have renewed energy to return to their benevolent task: raise more funds to ensure that the children are cared for, medically, spiritually and physically!
