Pearl 2, Pcapi 7 to sign deal on caring for environment
By Rene H. Martel

THE Private Enterprise Accelerated Resource Linkages or Pearl 2 project, through its component, Partnership Development Facility (PDF), and Pollution Control Officers Association of the Philippines Inc. (Pcapi) based in Region 7 will seal their ties in a contract signing today at the Tesda Compound in Lahug, Cebu City.

The Canadian International Development Agency (Cida) and its local partners, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and the Department of Trade and Industry, will show their support by acting as official witnesses at the event.

The P2-million Pcapi-Region 7 sub-project entitled “Implementation of Environment Management System in the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Workshops” will run for a year.

Its aim is to attain and sustain economic development without destroying the environment. The sub-project is designed to establish an environmental management system within the nine Tesda workshops to help promote the Environment Management System among small and medium enterprises.

Expected at today’s event are Canadian Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Sutherland, Canadian Councilor and Head of Aid Gerard Belanger, Pcapi president Rene Bongo, Tesda Regional Director Ernesto Beltran and Pearl 2 field manager Ed Sutherland.
