3rd Visayas travel, tour fair scheduled Feb. 20-22 at SM

The Cebu Travel and Tours Association (CTTA) has tied up with the Cebu Visitors and Convention Bureau (CVCB), Cebu Association of Tour Operators (Cato) and the city government through Mayor Tomas Osmeña to expand the third Visayas Travel and Tour Mart to include other Asia Pacific islands.

The event aims to promote tourist destinations and products both here and in the Asia Pacific islands. It also aims to support the effort of the Department of Tourism to attract local and international tourists.

More than 100 exhibitors from all over the country as well as the Asia Pacific islands, which include Macau, Okinawa and Guam, are coming up with unique and creative exhibits as well as good promotions and packages.

Marilou Ordoñez, chairperson and immediate past president of CTTA, said the main objective of the event is to promote both inbound and outbound markets. This one-stop travel fair is an ideal event to showcase tourist destinations and products especially for the Visayas and Mindanao areas.

Over 100 exhibitors from the hotel and resort sector, travel agencies, airline firms, and tourist-related business have signed up. The exhibitor’s rate is P9,000 per booth for CTTA, Cato and CVCB members. Non-member rate is P12,000. Exhibitor’s fee for Asia Pacific Island participants is US$500 per booth. Registration forms are available at Tourkonsult located at the HSBC bldg. on Juana Osmeña st.

Formal opening ceremony is scheduled on Feb. 20 at 11 a.m. One of the highlights of the fair is the formal launching of Cebu-based airline South Phoenix, which offers domestic routes.

For reservations, one may visit www.lakbaynet/visayastravelandtour, call Tourkonsult at 255-1250, fax 254-7850, or email bernadettejingco@skyinet.net.ph and dtticebu@gsilink.com.
