Valentine’s Day has been proven to inspire entrepreneurs to come up with different treats for patrons for apparent reasons.

So for those who are in a quandary as to where to spend those special hours of the day with your special someone, here’s a list which you might find handy.

Starting from the day before the red-letter day itself, you can enjoy the company of your loved one in shows like Retro Love, featuring John Ford Coley, at the Great Hall of the White Gold House; the Abba – World Tour 2004 Valentine Retro Party at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

There’s Loveless with Cebu-based bands at The Village Courtyard, Pido with the Take One at Jukebox (also on the 14th) and still others, featuring home-grown talents like those in Slabadu and other entertainment spots in this metropolis.

On the day of hearts itself, Lani Misalucha will be at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel; homegrown bands will be at The Village Courtyard for the show Heart and Soul; the one featuring home-grown bands at the Baseline Restaurant; a stand-up comedy act at Sinners and Saints; and many others.

A few days after Valentine’s Day, local songbird Rochelle Vega will take centerstage with her All Out Concert at the SM Cinema One. Out there at the Budyong Hall of the Waterfront Mactan, spotlights will be trained on the Texters’ Choice of the Star in a Million talent search, Sheryn Mae Regis.

Take your pick!

After that breast-revealing act at the Super Bowl halftime show by Janet Jackson, with a little help from Justin Timberlake, that little piece of metal jewelry called “nipple shield” has become trendy in many parts of the world especially in the US of A.

While many frowned on the flesh exposure, the fashionistas couldn’t care less. What they were after was the trend that Janet has set and now they’re on a frenzy as to which design would fit best and where they could have their nipples pierced.
A word of caution: make sure that what is used in piercing is thoroughly sterilized!

Here’s something for all stargazers out there. I mean, movie stars – not real celestial bodies. Pizza Hut’s celebrity endorser, Diether Ocampo, will be in Cebu for the grand-reopening of the stores at the Ayala Center Cebu and SM City Cebu.
This will be next Tuesday, Feb. 17. Mark your calendars, folks!

Just last Sunday, yours truly caught a glimpse of another version of the “Eto Ang Beat” commercial of a popular softdrink brand. This time, it showed three guys riding a public utility jeepney with a fourth guy holding a can of that softdrink brand.

It sure looked funny but my choice happens to be another version. No, it’s not even the ones showing the two original young lady endorsers in two versions.

My favorite happens to be the one showing three middle-aged nuns in their habits (of course, they could be not real nuns) having fun and, yeah, doing the beat. It was fun looking at persons who are supposed to be prim and proper but, just for the fun of it, do gestures that go with the tongue-twisting rhyme.

Also, the commercial showed the human side of people who are perceived to be in constant communication with the Almighty. How about you? Which one tickles you the most?

Oh, your favorite is that of a competing brand. Ah, okay! No prob! Advance Happy Valentine’s Day!
