Preening por tu By J.A. Bacalso
THIS is turning out to be the luckier generation.
Skin is in where we had mounds of shoulder padding in our day. Color is vibrant but intelligent, where we had thoughtless gold lamé shine. Hair is more relaxed and dynamic, where we had do’s that could face a tsunami squarely and live to tell about it.
And the men? Still generally safe, unless you want to take the path less traveled and risk the stares less subtle. Suits are still a big and versatile story- with variations on the theme evident at the change in necklines, or a choice of number of buttons to close.
We abhor loud undershirts, so we keep the looks on these pages to clean lines-suits cut close to the body (this is, after all a body-conscious generation weaned on MTV) that need no jolts of jewel color to stand out.
And as a general rule, vintage pieces are chic when dug from your mother’s closet.
Keep pop’s tweeds in suspended animation unless the prom decided on a retro theme. Even so, always, always thaw with caution.
